We suggest starting by choosing a chapter to write and reserving your space. By reserving a chapter you will not be writing the same chapter as another transcriber at the same time. Simply contact us with your chapter of choice (after checking the tables for prior reservations), your name and location. We will fill in your initials and location in the chapter tables and color the cell yellow in order to indicate a reserved chapter.
Standards
Format
Please email us for the standard lined paper we are using. We will be happy to mail you paper.
The most important standard is the width of the text block at 4". Line height is less important and should be what is comfortable for you. Our lines are 3/16" apart. We have found it useful to place a lined piece of paper behind the blank page as a guide. For an example of a 4" by 3/16" layout (to place behind a blank piece of paper) click here.
The handwriting
The writing is to be printed.
It should be legible and neat.
The more stylistic the better.
Please no longhand or cursive.
Typing is not acceptable.
Pen and Ink
Your writing tool is your choice. The individual styles and line weights will highlight the fact that thousands of individuals took time to transcribe this Bible.
Acceptable tools:
Calligraphy pens
Quills
Dip Pens
Fountain pens
Roller Balls
Ball points (last resort)
Unacceptable tools:
Pencil
Felt tips
Sharpies
Writing a chapter takes considerable time and effort. We would suggest that you use a permanent black ink in order to preserve the work.
Paper
Unlined, white, standard 8-1/2" x 11" paper is acceptable. Remember, the text block is only 4" so you will only use the center 4" of the sheet.
We have paper with non-photographic lines. Please email us and we will be happy to mail you some paper.
The initial effort will be in English.
The version of the Bible that you use is your choice.
The chapters are to be numbered by the transcriber (you).
The verses may or may not be numbered at your descretion.
The transcriber of the first chapter of each book is encouraged to design a book heading even if it is only the name of the book in larger letters. If no chapter heading is received we will make one.

rt and style are encouraged. However, the most important aspect of this Bible is the contributions by common people.
Leading letters for chapters have often been the vehicle for artistic expression in Bibles. We would hope that this Bible is no exception and that you get as large and fancy as you like.
Artistic ability is not required.
Illustrations would be a great bonus. They will be included at our discretion along with the artist’s name and information the same as transcibers.
Errors
It may turn out to be quite a challenge to write an entire page without an error (I know it was for me!). If an error is made do not despair. You can start over, white it out, use white tape over it or leave it for the proof-reader to correct. Please do not line through or cross out the error. And please don't give up. Your effort is worth it!
